Well, it was just the reaction he wanted. Such a heart; not willing to let a bad man DIE. No matter the cost, Sherlock was on him like he was John Watson. He couldn’t help but feel a splash of WARMTH in his heart for the gesture; did the detective really care that much for him?
Despite the pain he held a lingering grin on his face, watching the actions of the other as though it was the most entertaining show on Earth.
“You know, Sherlock- you could have at least brought me a DRINK before being so ROUGH with me.” He didn’t, however, like to flirt as much with Sherlock as he did with other people. He found it almost insulting to his intelligence. “Oooh but you LIKE playing the hero. Why would I make it so EASY for you? Besides, you’re doing OH such a wonderful job.”
Correct. He had got himself shot. On purpose. To see what Sherlock would do and- OH was he loving the response already.
“We had tea, I find that sufficient enough,” he tossed the line in without much thought, a passing comment and touched on the matter no further.
TUCKING IN THE FINAL strand of the make-shift bandage with swift precision ( a musician’s hands ) Sherlock returned to a BREATHABLE distance, taking an objective stance. “For a man bleeding out not half a minute ago, you certainly talk BIG.”
NO SURPRISE, really, considering the man ( more than a man ??) often FLIRTED with DEATH. Pure wonder and insatiable curiosity struck Sherlock, evident in the frozen fixture of dubiety on his face. “I’m not a hero. You had no insurance, no way of KNOWING, no promise, I would help you. WHY—?” the detective’s voice trailed, a question continued only in his mind.
“Why would you make it easy for me… ” he echoed, drawing on the criminal’s words. ”You planned this?” He asked, searching for affirmation. Sherlock long resolved from trying to read Moriarty, a hopeless prospect. Too unpredictable.
“It’s a game, isn’t it? Get shot, force my hand to ‘save’ you, laugh and, what, get chips? Is that it?” Of course not. Sherlock knew better ( or thought he did ). “Bear in mind I have actual work to do than to entertain your FANTASIES.”
